Jim Simon is the assistant managing editor for the Seattle Times, overseeing local and regional news coverage. He covered government and politics for the Times for narly a decade, including stints as chief political reporter and head of the Olympia bureau. He was also the paper's lead environmental reporter and was a staff writer for Pacific Northwest Magazine. Before coming to the Times, he was a reporter for UPI in the Philippines, helping cover the beginning of the People Power revolt there in the mid-1980s.
He has trained journalists and worked on media development projects in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, as well as taught advanced reporting at an Indonesian university. He has also taught at Seattle University.
David Postman is the chief political reporter for The Seattle Times. He has covered politics at the paper since 1994. Since May 2006 he has written Postman on Politics, a blog of local, state and national politics.
He also hosts Olympia On Call, a weekly TV program that airs during the legislative session on TVW. He is a frequent guest on TV and radio in Seattle and nationally.
